BROOKINGS, S.D. — South Dakota State University has identified $739,799 in budget cuts in response to a reduction in state appropriations for Fiscal Year 2011.
The proposed cuts were reviewed today by the South Dakota Board of Regents at its meeting in Vermillion.
About 50 percent of the cuts at South Dakota State will come from administration and about 50 percent from academic programs, as outlined at an April 26 campus-wide meeting.
President David Chicoine, in a campus-wide message Thursday, emphasized to faculty and staff that “everything possible will be done to assure the very best educational experiences continue to be provided for students at our university” as the university manages through the state funding reduction in the upcoming fiscal year.
The cuts reviewed by the regents are in narrative form on the Board of Regents Web site at http://www.sdbor.edu/board/items/BoardMeetingItems.htm
