South Dakota Department of Transportation seeks public input on Interstate 190 Corridor study

PIERRE, SD – The South Dakota Department of Transportation, in coordination with the Rapid City Metropolitan Planning Organization, will hold a public open house on Thursday, May 27 to gather public input on the future of the Interstate 190 / US Highway 16 corridor in Rapid City.

Discussion topics will include the potential removal of the Interstate designation from the corridor and conceptual replacement options for the existing Exit 1: North Street / Silver Street interchange developed by HDR Engineering as part of the ongoing I-190 Corridor / Silver Street Interchange Study.

The I-190 Corridor / Silver Street Interchange study seeks to determine the future needs of the Interstate 190 / US Highway 16 corridor from Omaha Street to Interstate 90 in Rapid City, including the replacement plan for the existing Exit 1 at Silver Street / North Street.

The meeting will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the First Floor Community Room of the City/School Administration Building, located at 300 Sixth Street in Rapid City. A brief, summarizing presentation will be made at approximately 6:00 p.m.
