Mitchell, SD - Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin participated in a public forum at the Dakotafest Farm Show in Mitchell today that was attended by hundreds of South Dakotans.
In addition to discussing her reasons for voting against the House climate change bill and her efforts as a member of the Agriculture Committee to oversee farm bill implementation, Rep. Herseth also highlighted her concerns with the current health care reform proposal in the House and improvements she is hopeful will be made as the process continues.
“I was pleased to hear from and talk with a number of South Dakotans at Dakotafest today,” Rep. The forum was organized by WNAX-AM and audience members submitted questions for panelists to answer. In addition to Rep. Herseth Sandlin, participants in the forum included Senator John Thune, Farm Services Agency State Director Craig Schaunaman and South Dakota Secretary of Agriculture Bill Even.
Rep. Herseth Sandlin also announced at the forum that United States Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack has accepted her invitation to tour the extensive flood damage in northeastern South Dakota and discuss solutions and ways that USDA can help producers get back on track.
