American Airlines to resume flights between Sioux Falls and Chicago

American Airlines will resurrect air service between Sioux Falls and the popular business destination of Chicago with three daily flights starting next year, according to the Sioux Falls Argus Leader newspaper. Sioux Falls will be served by American Eagle, American Airlines' regional jet service.
American Airlines halted Sioux Falls to Chicago service five years ago after federal authorities pushed for reduced traffic at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport, according to the Argus Leader. The opening of a new runway at O'Hare this year has allowed American to add a number of flights into Chicago, including adding direct flights to and from Sioux Falls and Fargo.
