DICKINSON, N.D. - Help wanted signs have become almost as ubiquitous as pickup trucks and oil rigs in booming Dickinson, with everyone from Menards to McDonald’s looking to hire. But while the demand is there, supply has yet to catch up.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The numbers can be daunting. North Dakota has the lowest unemployment rate in the nation at 2.6 percent. There were 23,000 online job openings in March, according to the Job Service North Dakota, and only 11,000 active resumes.
DICKINSON, N.D. -- The number of out-of-state job seekers posting resumes to the North Dakota Job Service database has dropped by about two-thirds from its peak in January 2012, but this in no way indicates that growth in North Dakota is slowing.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The federal government shutdown means a temporary layoff for thousands of workers in North Dakota and Minnesota, including those who administer the unemployment benefits available for workers sidelined when large parts of the government stop working.
BISMARCK — High-paying jobs in North Dakota's booming oil patch helped bump the state's average annual wage by 10 percent last year to nearly $46,000 though the state continues to lag behind the national average, a Job Service analysis showed.
